Utilities System Trainee #2024-063

Entry level trainee position performing unskilled or routine manual labor duties in a wide variety of utility maintenance and construction work. Installs water, reuse, storm water and wastewater lines systems. Performs other related work as required, i.e., excavation, digs trenches, removes concrete pavement removal and sod replacement.  Assist in cleaning culverts, swales, storm drains, canals, and many other similar jobs.  Work is performed under close supervision and outside in all weather conditions.  After instructions and orientation, the employee will be expected to carry out these routine details. Expected to work overtime to maintain integrity of the Utility. This is an essential position; incumbent will be required to regularly work overtime as part of the rotating “on-call” program, extended hours during and after hurricanes or other disasters. A strong understanding of ethical behavior is required.  Must work in accordance with the Utility’s safety program and provide excellent customer service to internal/external customers.  Needs to have an intellectual curiosity and a desire to find answers.  Performs related duties as assigned.
