Job Title: Ultra sonographer (General/AB/OB/Small Parts)
Job Location:Bangor, ME
Working Hours: Day shift, 8-hour shifts (varied)
Guaranteed Hours: 40/week
Unpaid Orientation: 16 Hours
Department:  Diagnostic Imaging

Position Summary
The Ultrasonographer operates advanced ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images for Radiologist interpretation. This role requires strong technical skills, compassionate patient interaction, and proficiency with EPIC and PACS systems. The technologist ensures accurate imaging, proper labeling, and compliance with safety, confidentiality, and facility standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound exams and ensure accurate imaging of anatomy for diagnosis.
  • Consult with Radiologists for exam review and clarification before patient discharge.
  • Provide ultrasound guidance for physicians during special procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate service with Clinical Engineering when needed.
  • Verify clinical history, patient identification, and exam orders using two identifiers.
  • Utilize ultrasound units, probes, and PACS efficiently; send images after hours when required.
  • Perform high-level disinfection of endocavity probes per policy.
  • Document procedures accurately in EPIC and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
 Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Must hold an active Maine state license.
  • Minimum 3 years of ultrasound experience.
  • Certification required: ARDMS (AB).
  • Strong technical proficiency in general/AB/OB/small parts imaging.
  • Proficiency with PACS and EPIC EMR.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, take call, and respond to after-hours imaging needs.
  • Strong communication, patient-care, and critical-thinking skills.
