The X-Ray Technician performs a variety of diagnostic radiologic procedures with strong clinical judgment and technical expertise. The role includes operating and troubleshooting CR/DR equipment and imaging systems, ensuring high-quality images, maintaining safety and infection control standards, and supporting departmental operations as part of a unionized imaging team. The environment offers a stable weekday schedule in a scenic Western Massachusetts setting with access to outdoor recreation, arts, and culture.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform diagnostic radiographic examinations independently and accurately according to established protocols.
Operate CR and DR imaging equipment and manage images within PACS, HIS, and RIS systems.
Verify patient identity, confirm exam orders, and obtain relevant clinical history prior to imaging.
Assess image quality and repeat studies only when necessary, following radiation safety principles.
Adhere to infection control, radiation safety, and workplace safety policies and procedures.
Maintain patient confidentiality and provide professional, courteous communication to patients and colleagues.
Participate in quality control procedures and performance improvement initiatives within the imaging department.
Support and mentor other team members as requested, including helping with training or orientation.
Attend mandatory education and maintain all required certifications.
Completion of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology Program.
Registered Technologist in Radiography (ARRT).
Valid Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License in Radiography.
Current CPR certification.
5 7 years of relevant radiologic technology experience preferred (mid-senior level).
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure clinical environment.
Willingness to attend all mandatory education programs and maintain credentials.
Confident performing independent diagnostic X-ray procedures in a busy clinical or hospital setting.
Proficient in CR/DR workflow and imaging informatics systems (PACS, HIS, RIS).
Demonstrates strict infection control practices and strong awareness of radiation safety standards.
Communicates clearly and compassionately with patients and collaborates well with providers and peers.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused, contributing positively to a structured, unionized department.
