Job Title: X-Ray Technician Profession: Allied Health Specialty: X-Ray Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 5x8.0 Hours per Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm EST Experience: Two years of experience required License: Licensed by the New York State Department of Health Certifications: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, BLS (American Heart Association ONLY) Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program Knowledge of radiographic examinations and positioning techniques, including procedures that require the use of contrast agents Basic computer skills with the ability to navigate through Windows applications Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and employees Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet schedules Demonstration of ethical and professional conduct Description: Responsible for coordinating and performing radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision. Prepares room, equipment, contrast, and materials as needed for patients. Cleans and disinfects radiographic room and equipment. Prepares patient for radiographic procedure by explaining the procedure and assisting the patient throughout the exam. Follows prescribed techniques in administering specific x-rays in order to obtain diagnostic images. Competently utilizes HIS/PACS/RIS software programs. Prints exams on film as needed and participates in department QA program. Observes the patient and equipment during procedures and reports unusual occurrences, recording patient condition as needed. Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties. Active movement throughout the workday includes standing, sitting, pivoting, and walking. Flexibility to work overtime including off-shift duty as needed, such as evenings and weekends. C-Arm procedure experience preferred. Procedures primarily consist of injections and ablations of the spine. The working environment resembles an operating room with close interactions with nurses and providers.
