Job Title: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Profession: Sleep Technologist Specialty: RPSGT Duration: Permanent Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: At least two years experience as a sleep technician in a hospital sleep lab. License: Registered as a polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) [REQUIRED] Certifications: BLS, ARRT Must-Have: At least one or more years of experience as a respiratory therapist with an RPSGT or SDS in an acute hospital setting. Description: Performs polysomnographic tests, multiple sleep latency tests, and maintenance of wakefulness tests, as ordered by physician. Reads and writes legibly. Converses effectively in the English language. Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and applicable software programs. Maintains regular, consistent, and punctual attendance at the assigned job location. Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. Possesses physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs. Requires adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision. Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and the ability to grasp and handle objects. Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating and transferring in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Must use standard precautions due to the threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Needs the ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone. May require periodic use of a personal computer.
