Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Technician Profession: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Specialty: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialty Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: MRT, ARRT or RCIS Certifications: BLS (AHA Only), ACLS (AHA Only) Must-Have: 2 years minimum experience Description: The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible for surgically scrubbing in and assisting with equipment. The technician assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as a secondary assignment. They prepare the room and equipment, transport and monitor patients, and may handle medications in accordance with responsibilities. Key responsibilities include: Assisting physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, and diagnostic and interventional procedures. Performing related duties such as preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures. Printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases. Circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms. Monitoring patients' ECG and vital signs while in the catheterization lab, notifying the physician of variances, and providing emergency procedures as needed. Performing pre-and post-procedure care and addressing patient questions to ensure comfort. Transporting patients to and from the procedural area. Communicating relevant medical information through documentation on specified medical record forms. Recording, entering into the data computer, and calculating catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis. Following national and state radiation protection regulations for patients and staff. Maintaining inventory and ordering procedure room supplies to ensure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use. Key Success Factors: One year of clinical experience preferred. Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate problem-solving skills. Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility. Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques. Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
