Our Client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Travel Technician (Cytotechnologist) for their Boston, MA location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • The main function of a travel technician is to travel to different locations and perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
  • Set up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipment.
  • Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Analyze, gather and record test data to issue reports that use charts, graphs and narratives.
  • Obtain specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying microorganisms for analysis.
  • May examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities.
  • Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.
  • Perform screenings, be able to go to the patient beside to evaluate, potentially keep an eye on the prep lab.
  • Screen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the lab.
  • Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens.
 
Requirements:
  • Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
  • Basic ability to work independently and manage ones time.
  • Basic knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.
  • Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
  • They have to be ASCP certified.
  • We are looking for an experienced Cytotechnologist that is experienced with screenings of paps, general cytology experience.
  • Thin-prep processing of cytology specimens
  • Microcyte processing of cytology specimens
  • Thin-Prep processing of UroVysion specimens
  • Pap staining of cytology slides
  • Coverslipping of cytology slides
  • Bachelor’s degree of science degree
  • ASCP Cytotechnologist certification is required
