Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 8 hours (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician License: Valid State License required Certifications: HSPCA or CRCST certification required Must-Have: - Weekend rotation required, no on-call requirement - Epic charting system experience preferred Description: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, preparation and packing, sterilization case cart picking, storage, and distribution of sterile instrumentation. Candidates must have HSPCA or CRCST certification. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician is required. Experience with Epic charting systems is preferred. The technician should be familiar with high-level disinfection processes, proper labeling, and sterilization wrapping procedures. Candidates should have skills in managing various surgical instruments and equipment, including endoscopes and automated reprocessors. Knowledge of chemical agents for decontamination and cleaning equipment is essential. The position involves organizing trays, placing instruments on trays, and knowledge of preference cards. The technician will also need to be familiar with the use of washers and sterilizers, as well as biological and chemical indicators. Experience in a hospital setting, particularly in sterile processing, is necessary. Candidates should adhere to aseptic techniques and best practices in sterile processing.
