Job Title: Allied Sterile Processing Tech Profession: Sterile Processing Technician Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evenings Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 2+ years License: High School Diploma or GED Certifications: Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD) Must-Have: - 2+ years of Certified Sterile Processing Experience - Previous OR or Med Surg experience in a health care facility Description: Monday to Friday schedule. Typically 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM but may require early arrival or late stay. No holidays, call, weekends, or overnight shifts required. Duties include technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures adhering to principles of sterile techniques. Responsible for the proper care and handling of instruments. Assists clinical staff by performing assistive and advocacy services in caring for the patient. Follows policies, protocols, techniques, and manufacturer’s guidelines when reprocessing, assembling, and maintaining specialized instruments and equipment. Responsible for proper care of instruments and equipment, ensuring utilization in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines (40% of duties). Initiates and/or participates in quality assurance and continuous quality monitoring utilizing results to initiate or recommend changes as indicated (10% of duties). Documents required information and maintains records for instruments and equipment (15% of duties). Undertakes continuous education and training in all areas of sterile processing including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes (15% of duties). Identifies, picks, distributes supplies and stock items, including equipment requests, and delivers them to appropriate areas (10% of duties). Monitors stock levels and assists in maintaining inventory levels within sterile processing (10% of duties). Responsible for providing biological and chemical test solutions to ensure quality and consistency for the decontamination of instruments and medical equipment (5% of duties). Performs other duties as assigned (5% of duties).
