Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 5x8 (07:00 - 15:30) Experience: 2 years required; first-time travelers accepted with strong experience and skills License: Active license required Certifications: CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA required Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Strong skills in sterile processing and decontamination practices - Experience in acute hospital settings Description: The Sterile Processing Technician will work day shifts from Monday to Friday. They will be responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. The role may require one weekend per month duty. The technician must be knowledgeable about various sterilization methods and procedures. Floating within the department and sister facilities may be required. Candidates must be willing to comply with all patient care and sterilization protocols. Participation in department scheduling may be required as necessary. The technician will also be involved in equipment documentation and organization of instrument trays. Candidates must demonstrate competency in aseptic techniques and safe handling of chemical agents. It is essential to follow proper labeling and selection procedures for wrapping materials. The ability to reprocess scopes and perform high-level disinfection is necessary. All tasks must be completed in compliance with safety and health regulations. The role supports overall surgical services by ensuring that all instruments are sterile and ready for use. Candidates are expected to maintain a clean and organized work environment. They should also be prepared to handle and document any sterilization testing as per protocols.
