Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner Profession: Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: Two years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred. License: Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Certifications: Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Must-Have: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within three months of hire. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential must be received within twelve months of hire. Description: Under general supervision, responsible for providing services for the Respiratory Therapy Department in a timely and efficient manner for all appropriate age levels. Administers therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff. Records treatment information and patient’s treatment response in their computerized medical record. Acts as a resource person to medical staff. Performs invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients. Provides age-appropriate care to patients. Ensures that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained. Maintains necessary respiratory therapy records. Performs as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned. Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment is essential. Clinical decision-making skills related to patient care as it pertains to the pulmonary and cardiac system and the age of the patient are required. Ability to interpret the appropriate information to identify patient needs. Ability to work under stress and maintain good interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff is necessary. Some computer skills are needed.
