Description of job:
SnapCare is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join a high-performing clinical team in Des Moines, IA. In this role, you will deliver essential respiratory care to patients across various acuity levels, including those requiring advanced airway management, ventilator support, and emergent respiratory interventions. The RT plays a crucial role in optimizing respiratory function, supporting critical care teams, and ensuring safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Qualifications:
- Active Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license or eligibility for Iowa licensure.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; CRT may be considered based on experience.
- Minimum 1 year of recent respiratory therapy experience in acute care; ICU or ED experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ventilator management, airway procedures, and respiratory pharmacology.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergencies and rapidly evolving clinical situations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
- BLS required; ACLS, PALS, or NRP preferred depending on patient population.
Responsibilities:
- Provide respiratory assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on physician orders and patient-specific needs.
- Administer respiratory therapies including aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy, humidity therapy, and oxygen delivery systems.
- Manage and monitor ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and advanced airway devices.
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling, analysis, and interpretation to guide clinical decisions.
- Respond to rapid response events, code blues, and emergent respiratory situations, supporting airway stabilization and resuscitation efforts.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and timely respiratory interventions.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure proper setup, safety checks, and maintenance of respiratory therapy equipment.
