Job Title: Licensed Respiratory Therapist Profession: Clinical Professional Specialty: Respiratory Therapist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7a-7p, every other weekend rotation Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Zero to six months of related experience License: Valid Provisional / Respiratory Care Practitioner License or Temporary letter to practice Certifications: Certified / Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Must-Have: - 1 year of experience - Adult Intensive Care experience - BLS certified through AHA - Critical Care experience Description: The Licensed Respiratory Therapist assesses, implements, and evaluates the delivery of respiratory care services. This is done utilizing processes in accordance with hospital standards and department policies. The purpose is to monitor and evaluate patient status. The responsibilities include: Assessing and delivering care/interventions to patients in non-critical care areas while considering patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Performing computer entry, verifying physician orders, and documenting pertinent clinical information. Providing accurate documentation in the medical record according to policy. Providing care effectively to patients in critical care areas. Administering mechanical ventilation, both invasive and non-invasive, while monitoring and measuring patient parameters. Attending to ventilator maintenance and setting changes, while monitoring patient response. Communicating effectively with the healthcare team and demonstrating professional judgment. Delegating and supervising tasks to appropriate staff members as indicated. Demonstrating respect for patients' rights. Establishing effective relationships with patients, families, and medical staff using positive customer service skills. Maintaining communication updates with the department consistently. Supporting departmental and hospital goals by attending in-services and completing variance reports. Organizing, prioritizing, and performing skills appropriate for the patient population. Anticipating patient and departmental needs. Responding to code blues and transports in a timely manner. Participating in the mentoring of new personnel. Assisting in monitoring quality and appropriateness of patient care. Participating actively in projects and processes designed to improve patient outcomes. Exercising independent judgment in planning operations and making decisions. Coordinating activities without direct supervision. Working directly with patients and customers.
