Job Title: Art Therapist Profession: Therapy/Rehabilitation Specialty: Art Therapist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years recent relevant experience License: Valid state license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Working knowledge of the needs of the elderly, including mobility limitations, sensory impairments, and cognitive losses. Sensitivity to the activities and educational needs of various ethnic groups. Familiarity with basic recreation equipment. Good attention to detail with time management and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices. Basic computer knowledge, including word processing, presentation, and email software. Ability to work independently and as part of a team while accomplishing multiple tasks. Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems. Ability to ensure the privacy of each participant’s Protected Health Information (PHI). Effective communication skills with diverse audiences. Ability to build collaborative relationships with participants, peers, and community resources. Description: Works with others to develop a monthly calendar of therapeutic activities. Obtains resources such as music, slides, tapes, books, games, and other recreational equipment. Contacts community groups or other resources to arrange programs of interest for participants. Assists with general activities, such as greeting participants, reality orientation, food service, and toileting. Implements activities scheduled on the monthly calendar. Helps build a sense of community and a warm social atmosphere for participants. Provides parties, holiday and birthday celebrations, and entertainment using community resources. Works with a Supervisor to plan personalized activities for participants with special needs. Assists in evaluation and care planning for prospective participants. Completes required evaluations of assigned participants and attends review meetings. Completes documentation by entering data into patient records or department databases. Provides supportive contact with individuals who have emotional or functional limitations. Monitors functional changes in participants and adjusts recreation/activity programs accordingly. Ensures the safety and security of participants by noting health changes and communicating information to the Supervisor or during team meetings. Provides training to volunteers and assigns them to activities and tasks as appropriate. Monitors and observes volunteers and provides feedback to the Supervisor. Assists with paperwork, evaluations, and attendance records related to volunteers.
