Job Title: Radiation Therapist Profession: Therapist Specialty: Radiation Therapy Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 Hours Experience: 3-5 years License: ARRT in Therapy RT(T), DSHS Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist Certifications: BLS Required Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy preferred Description: Responsible for daily treatment of patients with ionizing radiation under the direction of the radiation oncologist. Work with the radiation oncologist and physics personnel in performing simulation and treatment calculations. Responsible for daily warm-up and Quality Assurance of the treatment machine and CT simulator. Provides education and information to patients and family members about all processes involved in the planning and delivery of radiation treatment to help overcome fears and myths regarding treatment. Ensures that accurate and relevant data is passed on to the therapists, radiation oncologist, and physics personnel who carry out dose calculations for treatment. Ensures standard treatment protocols are followed in the process. Ensures that all processes are signed off by the radiation oncologist, including Isodose Plans, Calculations, Laboratory and Radiology results, and Dictations. Familiarity with Linear Accelerator, CT Simulator, ADAC Treatment Planning System, and VARIS System is required.
