Job Title: Physical Therapist Profession: Physical Therapist Specialty: Physical Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: CA license for Physical Therapy Description: Unit consists of 189 beds with various specialties. Hospital census averages 150 patients. Off-site outpatient center for all three disciplines is located 2.5 miles away. Services include home health clients. Certifications required are BLS and a CA license for Physical Therapy. Electronic medical record system is Cerner B, upgraded version. Therapy leadership team includes one lead inpatient therapist, one therapy supervisor, and one director of rehab services. Staff includes outpatient and inpatient therapists, as well as therapy aides and assistants. Weekend work may be required based on scheduling needs. Holidays are not a requirement for this position. Scrub color is burgundy polo or long sleeve shirt, black pants, and shoes. Telemetry capabilities are available for patients across the unit. Ventilator management varies, with the number fluctuating between two to six patients. A team of hospitalists, residents, and telemedicine intensivists are present in the ICU. Inpatient therapy staff includes physical and occupational therapists. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, as is pharmacy service. Shifts are generally eight hours, with potential for ten-hour shifts for travelers. Floating may be necessary among different therapy disciplines. General department orientation consists of skills checklists and assignment to a clinician. Common diagnoses include orthopedic, neurological, medical, and pulmonary complications. This role includes working with a diverse patient population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Additional certifications related to stroke and elective procedures are beneficial. The location offers various recreational opportunities within a reasonable distance. Cancellation policy allows for a specific number of shifts to be canceled during the assignment.
