Oncology Clinical Pharmacist Day Shift

The Oncology Clinical Pharmacist provides advanced clinical pharmacy services for cancer patients in both inpatient and outpatient oncology settings. This role collaborates closely with oncologists, fellows, advanced practice providers, nurses, and the broader multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, evidence-based, and optimized chemotherapy and supportive care regimens. The Oncology Clinical Pharmacist also functions as a subject matter expert in oncology therapeutics, supporting clinical decision-making, education, and quality initiatives across the oncology service line.

Day Shift
Collaborate with oncologists and the care team to optimize chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care plans.
Review, verify, and manage oncology care plans within the EHR in accordance with national oncology guidelines and institutional protocols.
Participate in daily oncology rounds with Fellows, NPs, and Physicians to provide real-time pharmacotherapy input.
Provide patient-specific medication education and counseling using the teach-back method to ensure understanding and adherence.
Identify, prevent, and resolve medication-related problems, including drug interactions, dosing issues, and toxicity management.
Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students, supporting clinical training and professional development.
Lead and participate in education and staff development activities for pharmacy, nursing, and other clinical teams.
Promote safe, cost-effective, and evidence-based use of oncology medications and supportive therapies.
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
Licensed Pharmacist, with ability to obtain appropriate state licensure upon acceptance.
Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP).
PGY-1 residency plus at least 3 years of oncology experience, or completion of a PGY-2 Oncology residency.
Minimum of 5 years of oncology or closely related clinical pharmacy experience.
Strong working knowledge of national oncology treatment guidelines (e.g., NCCN, ASCO).
Experience working within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for order entry, verification, and documentation.
Excellent clinical judgment, communication, collaboration, and teaching skills.
Oncology clinical expertise and advanced pharmacotherapy management.
Evidence-based decision making and guideline-driven care.
Interdisciplinary collaboration and participation in oncology rounds.
Patient education, counseling, and adherence support.
Clinical leadership, mentorship, and precepting.
Strong focus on safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
