Job Title: Pharmacist Profession: Pharmacy Specialty: Pharmacist Duration: Full-Time Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: Guaranteed hours not specified Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred with at least one (1) year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience License: Current, unrestricted licensure as a Pharmacist in the State of Colorado required Certifications: Basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) required Must-Have: - Review and verify provider medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential interactions. - Prepare, compound, and dispense medications (oral, IV, topical, enteral) following established protocols and legal requirements. - Monitor patient therapy for efficacy and safety, adjusting regimens in collaboration with providers as needed. - Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients. - Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, and adherence, including during discharge and in outpatient encounters. - Supervise, mentor, and delegate tasks to pharmacy technicians and support staff. - Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with all policies, state/federal regulations, and accrediting standards. - Maintain inventory, oversee storage conditions, and monitor drug shortages or recalls. - Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical programs. - Serve as acting Pharmacy Director during absences, ensuring continuity of operations and oversight. - Verify integrity of all products prior to distribution to patient care areas. - Abide by all current United States Pharmacopeia (USP) recommendations. Description: This position requires a qualified pharmacist with a focus on reviewing and verifying medication orders. The pharmacist will prepare and dispense various forms of medication. Collaboration with healthcare providers will be essential in monitoring therapy efficacy and safety. Patient education and counseling on medication usage will be integral to this role. The pharmacist will also supervise pharmacy technicians and ensure compliance with regulations. Inventory management and participation in quality improvement initiatives are key responsibilities. Finally, leading the pharmacy department during temporary absences is required.
