Job Title: PACU PCT Profession: Patient Care Tech Specialty: PACU PCT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 37.5 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1 year of PACU or post-surgical experience required License: Not required for submission Certifications: BLS Certification Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) via NHA Must-Have: Ability to cover phase 1 and phase 2 recovery Experience with general, orthopedic, neuro, podiatry, urology, and more Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically Allscripts Description: Department is focused on post-anesthesia recovery. Staff typically consist of PCTs, with two PCTs per shift. Common responsibilities include patient preparation, monitoring vital signs, and assessing consciousness levels. PCTs will monitor for adverse reactions or complications. Pain management and patient education are important functions of the role. Collaboration with the healthcare team is crucial for quality patient care. Continuous observation of patients until they are stable is expected. PCTs assist with gathering patient belongings and escorting patients. Cleaning patient rooms is part of the duties. The nurse to patient ratios are generally 1:2, with up to 1:3 if needed. Unit has 11 beds and an additional 8 bays for preoperative use. Required qualifications are BLS and CPCT/A certifications, verified through the NHA. There are no floating or on-call requirements associated with this position.
