Job Title: Pathologist Assistant Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Pathologists Assistant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 1 Year License: Must have an active state license by start date Certifications: PA(ASCP) required Must-Have: - Graduate from a Baccalaureate Pathologists Assistant program or a post-bachelor's program from an approved school of Pathologists Assistant. - EPIC experience preferred. Description: The Pathologist Assistant will be responsible for preparing, examining, and dissecting surgical specimens. The role includes dictating gross descriptions and performing frozen sectioning if needed. This position typically works from 08:30 to 17:00 on weekdays with no weekends or call requirements. The workload includes handling an average of 600-700 blocks processed each day, which involves a mix of complex surgical cases, small biopsies, and outreach specimens. Must be able to obtain and review patient clinical information such as scans, X-rays, and lab results. Experience with macroscopic description of gross anatomic features is essential. The position may involve some floating between locations. Candidate should have skills in tissue sampling for microscopic examination, specimen receipt and labeling, as well as gross/microscopic photography and image analysis. The candidate must assist with post-mortem examinations and bone marrow sampling as required. Selection will be based on experience and certification compliance. Candidates should be prepared to provide proof of education. This role is suitable for first-time travelers.
