Ophthalmic Assistant

Full-Time | Competitive Pay | 12-Month Contract 
Potential of Extension or Conversion to Permanent

 

Location: Mount Kisco, NY 10549

                                

  • Scheduled: 5 days per week, 40 Hours/week

  • Shift: Day shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Hourly Compensation: $23.00 - $24.00 on W2

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors promptly with a professional, courteous approach.

  • Obtain patient history and accurately transcribe physician-dictated notes and fee tickets into the EHR.

  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and compliance with clinic policies.

  • Escort patients to appropriate areas such as reception, dilation, or testing rooms.

  • Support physicians by preparing supplies and assisting during patient care.

  • Provide backup support to technicians as needed.

  • Perform visual acuity testing following established clinical guidelines.

  • Conduct autorefraction, lensometry, tonometry, and related diagnostic tests per protocol.

  • Complete visual field, glare, color vision, and Schirmer’s tear testing based on clinical need.

  • Review charts, post results, and update prior visit information in the EHR.

  • Clean and sterilize instruments; maintain autoclave per safety and infection-control standards.

  • Demonstrate effective care for geriatric patients and patients of all ages.

  • Stock exam rooms, monitor supply levels, and replace items as needed.

  • Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and testing areas.

  • Check medication/supply expiration dates and follow appropriate replacement procedures.

  • Follow all safety rules and clinic protocols consistently.

Required Qualification:

  • High School Diploma
  • BLS from AHA (prior to starting)
