Job Title: Seasonal Occupational Therapist Profession: Occupational Therapist Specialty: Rehabilitation Services Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of one year of full-time acute care specific experience or two years of skilled nursing/inpatient rehab facility experience or two years of acute care specific experience, when in the context of working less than full-time hours in this area of practice. License: Licensed Occupational Therapist Certifications: Proof of 2 hours of CVA specific continuing education within the recent four months Must-Have: - Able to perform patient evaluations using appropriate functional tests and measures. - Ability to assimilate objective measures along with social factors, medical stability, activity restrictions, participation limitations, or other relative comorbidities to determine functional deficits. - Capable of constructing short-term goals, long-term goals, and patient/family goals with appropriate frequency and duration. - Demonstrates proper and secure documentation in the Electronic Medical Record. - Exhibits critical thinking skills in patient evaluation and treatment planning. - Understands moist heat, paraffin, and other physical agent modalities as they apply to areas of practice. - Knowledge of the cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, nervous, and integumentary systems using age-specific care indicators. - Identifies learning needs of patients or family members. - Works as a team member to assist patients and families at all points of entry into the acute therapy care system and along the continuum of care. Description: The Seasonal Occupational Therapist is responsible for implementing physician orders for Occupational Therapy services. The Occupational Therapist provides all necessary aspects of Occupational Therapy within an interdisciplinary environment. The goal is to facilitate the return of the patient to an independent and safe lifestyle. The Occupational Therapist should utilize a growth and development knowledge base in the care of pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients. The Seasonal Occupational Therapist demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. They must assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information needed to identify patient requirements. The Occupational Therapist will provide necessary care according to each patient’s age-specific needs. They should demonstrate the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks, moving equipment and patients while adhering to safety measures. Physical demands include constant walking, balancing, standing, turning, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, handling, and hand and finger movements. Frequent bending, crouching, and sitting are also required. The Seasonal Occupational Therapist must be able to lift, handle, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. They should be able to operate blood pressure machines, pulse oximetry, wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
