Job Description:

Provides full-time, quality outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy care. May include some work at our local Long Term Care facility. Treats all patient age ranges and diagnoses within the State of Alaska's occupational therapy scope of practice, including home visits, village travel, and frequent collaboration with medical providers. Requires strong didactic skills due to Alaska's Direct Access privilege for occupational therapy. Incorporates evidence-based medicine into patient plans of care and exemplifies professional conduct, patient care ethics, and respect for cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Modifies patient care plans appropriately, using age-specific and patient-specific considerations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide occupational therapy care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Conduct home visits and participate in village travel for patient care.
  • Collaborate with medical providers and incorporate evidence-based medicine into care plans.
  • Display professional conduct and respect for cultural diversity in all interactions.
  • Modify patient care plans using age-specific and patient-specific considerations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy.
  • Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska as an OT or have a license in another state and be awaiting licensure in Alaska.
  • Hold current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret occupational therapy periodicals and medical literature.
  • Effective communication skills with medical staff, peers, and individuals from different cultures.
