Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Not required for submission Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma experience; ability to pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance Description: Unit notes indicate a need for preferred trauma experience. There is a 50-mile radius rule for candidates. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Nurses must have natural hair color and refrain from facial piercings. Male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing. A pass/fail examination will be conducted on the first day of orientation. All registered nurses are expected to complete a skills lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. The skills lab is pass/fail, and past candidates have been terminated for breaking sterile fields. Nurses demonstrating competence in maintaining a sterile field are likely to pass. In addition to the skills lab, nurses will receive educational training on lifts, restraints, and wound care. The staff-to-patient ratio on the unit is 1:3 or 1:4. Common diagnoses include CABG, MVR, STEMI, heart failure, and vascular repair. Experience with post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients is highly recommended but not mandatory. Registered nurses will be required to interpret common heart rhythms. Nurses can utilize self-scheduling and are balanced by a scheduler for requests. The unit requires three weekend shifts in a four-week schedule. Holiday coverage is also necessary. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Floating may be required to all relevant areas. The dress code includes navy blue scrubs, which are not provided. The facility utilizes the Cerner charting system. The cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled up to four times during the 13-week assignment.
