Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 2 License: Compact or state license in hand upon submission Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in high acuity ICU Experience with pulmonary artery catheters and balloon pumps Experience with transplant recovery (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas) Description: Please ensure that your traveler is aware of the expectations upon accepting an assignment. Upon starting your role, there may be an expectation to stay at the facility during emergency events until after the situation passes or to be part of the relief team. Specific details regarding pay during emergency events will be communicated as necessary. Travelers must report as assigned by their immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. Do not apply for this role if you are uncomfortable with the above conditions. This position involves caring for patients in a high acuity environment. The patient ratio is typically 1:2. Float to other ICUs and step-down units may be required. Epic experience is required. It is preferred to have experience with pulmonary artery catheters and balloon pumps. Block scheduling requests are not accepted. Key skills for the CVICU include: Caring for postoperative CABG, valve replacement/repair, aortic dissection, IABP, and PA catheters. Key skills for the SICU include: General postoperative care for surgical recovery patients, including transplant recovery. Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy is essential. Team members will provide interdisciplinary support from various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary. Patient diagnoses will include cardiac surgery patients, transplant patients, general surgery patients, and medicine overflow. All candidates must provide recent NURSYS reports that show updated licensure information. Two references from managers or supervisors will be necessary for contract clearance. Candidates currently working as permanent staff or agency contractors must have been separated for one full year before being considered again. Modules will be billable and completed during orientation. Please ensure that your compliance and documentation are complete.
