Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic experience required - Experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps preferred - High acuity ICU experience Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care in a high-acuity surgical intensive care unit. The nurse will be responsible for a patient ratio of 1:2. The role may require floating to other ICUs and surgical decision units. Experience with continuous renal replacement therapy is required. Certifications must include ACLS, BLS, and NIH. Candidates must have experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. They must also be comfortable caring for post-operative surgical recovery patients. Transplant recovery experience is necessary, specifically with liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas patients. The ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias is essential. Applicants should be skilled in ventilator management and ABG interpretation. Infection prevention and isolation precautions knowledge is critical. The nurse will work closely with an interdisciplinary team that includes physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. This position involves caring for both adults and geriatric patients. The unit typically consists of a diverse range of patient diagnoses.
