Job Title: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: RN Licensure Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Associate's Degree in Nursing Description: Responsible for implementing and supervising nursing services in medical detoxification and residential programs. Implements nursing care in accordance with program procedures. Duties specific to the Registered Nurse include administering drugs, medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law. Implements verbal provider orders and authenticates in writing within a reasonable time. Communicates with physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists. Completes other tasks within the scope of Registered Nurses and program services and procedures. Oversees all aspects of the patient admission process. Pre-screens new patients for appropriateness for admission, including TB screening. Obtains physical assessment data and health history. Inventories and cares for patients' personal possessions. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions. Transcribes and administers routine and prescribed medications in accordance with established procedures. Records patient observations and activities in patient records accurately and timely. Actively and compassionately interacts with patients to encourage engagement in treatment after detoxification. Maintains a safe and sanitary environment applying principles of medical asepsis, infection control techniques, and universal precautions. Implements safety and emergency procedures during fire drills and other disaster procedures. Provides patient education on health care as assigned or appropriate. Follows all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection. Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings. Participates in training on chemical dependency as required. Maintains and demonstrates current knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on policy and guidelines. Commits to a culture of safety and service excellence.
