Job Title: Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Behavioral Health RN - Psychiatric Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: RN Licensure in Alaska required Certifications: BLS Certification required Must-Have: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred Description: Responsible for implementing and supervising nursing services in medical detoxification and residential programs. Implements nursing care in accordance with program procedures. Administers drugs, medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law. Implements verbal provider orders and authenticates them in writing within a reasonable time. Communicates with physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists. Oversees all aspects of the detox patient admission process. Conducts pre-screening of new patients for appropriateness for admission. Obtains physical assessment data and health history. Inventories and cares for patients' personal possessions. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions. Transcribes and administers routine and prescribed medications following relevant procedures. Records patient observations and activities accurately and timely. Actively and compassionately interacts with patients to encourage engagement in treatment. Maintains a safe and sanitary environment by applying principles of medical asepsis and infection control techniques. Implements safety and emergency procedures during drills and disaster procedures. Provides patient education on health care as assigned or appropriate. Follows all policies and procedures concerning patient information protection. Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings. Participates in training on chemical dependency as required. Maintains a current working knowledge of clinical procedures and nursing care based on policy and regulatory guidelines.
