Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU, Med-surg Adult Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 3 Years License: Active WA License Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the MedSurg/PCU unit. The ideal candidate must have experience in all areas and be willing to flex in departments as needed. The RN will identify patient needs for education and provide appropriate education utilizing various modalities. They will ensure patient safety through preventative measures such as side rails, restraints, and safe equipment use. The RN must follow the restraint policy correctly and evaluate and document appropriately. Knowledge of the safe operation of all equipment in the PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas is essential. Candidates should be aware of troubleshooting techniques and follow procedures for the repair of essential equipment. Access to equipment manuals when needed is also a requirement. Implementing infection control and isolation procedures using proper documentation is critical. Standard precautions must be utilized at all times. The RN will maintain complete, accurate, and concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses during their shift. Accurate documentation of charge is expected. The RN will ensure accuracy and complete physicians' orders in a timely manner. A 24-hour check of orders may be required as part of the assigned duties. The candidate will provide a change of shift report to oncoming staff in a complete and accurate manner. Effective communication with other departments is essential. Critical lab values must be reported to the physician in a timely manner according to policy. Maintaining and restocking emergency carts, rooms, and general supplies is also part of the role. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
