Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical ICU setting License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Medical ICU experience in a large facility Comfortable with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management Ability to think critically and work collaboratively Description: The unit consists of 10 beds with patient ratios of 2:1 in ICU and 4-5:1 in PCU. There are no unit secretaries or patient care technicians available. During the night shift, staffing includes 1 Charge RN and 5 Staff RNs. The unit is equipped with lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), ventilators, IV pumps, and other essential devices. Documentation is managed through a specific system. Requirements include working 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday support. There are no on-call requirements, but there is a floating policy in place. Patients can expect bedside shift reports as a mandatory practice throughout the hospital. The relief charge nurse is expected to perform nurse leader rounding. Advanced skills required include ventilator management, critical care pharmacology, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and central line management. The staff assists providers with necessary bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations.
