Job Title: RN PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in PCU or similar settings preferred License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse working in a Pulmonary/GI PCU. Shift hours are 3x12s from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. The candidate must have experience with the Epic charting system. The schedule may include every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block. All requests for time off must be included with the submission. The facility is allowed to call off one shift every two weeks. The nurse must work one holiday during the 13-week contract. First-time travelers are accepted, as well as local applicants. Pending licenses are accepted if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state. Required clinical skills include: Experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown settings. Ability to perform cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management. Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration. Experience in central and peripheral line care. Medication administration, including cardiac drips (no titration). Providing respiratory support such as nasal cannula and oxygen administration. Knowledge of non-invasive airway management techniques. Experience using rapid response or code teams and understanding isolation precautions. Ratios are 1:5 for patient population and unit details. The unit serves adults and geriatrics with a daily census of 27 patients. This is a hospitalist PCU focusing primarily on Pulmonary/GI cases. There are no ventilators on this unit, and nurses may work without CNA support. Floating to other units within the candidate's skill set may be required. Work conditions may change as the situation evolves regarding patient care needs. Compliance with all health and safety regulations is expected. Interdisciplinary support is available from various services, including physical therapy and respiratory services.
