Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Description

Primary Purpose
The Registered Nurse – Resource Team provides comprehensive nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes
identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or
protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader. The RN Clinical Nurse/RT assists in maintaining a safe work environment and
performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Registered Nurse – Resource Team maintains clinical and professional
competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.
Must be available to provide nursing services in all patient care areas of expertise and knowledge, at all elected facilities.

A registered nurse's practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

Major Responsibilities
• Collects pertinent data and information relative to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation.
• Analyzes the assessment data to determine the actual or potential diagnoses, problem, and issues.
• Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education

Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.

Certification / License
Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board for GA locations and
Alabama Licensing Board for AL locations.
BLS required.
ACLS required.

Work Experience

2 years of nursing experience in specialty area required.

and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English in good,
understandable terms. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch. Finger dexterity.
Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

About Facility:

o 637 licensed beds

o Level 1 Trauma Designation

o Teaching Hospital

o Chest Pain Center

o Stroke Center

Unit Information:

o Beds: 10

▪ Census? 10

o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years PCU RN experience

o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o Step Down ICU patients

o Common diagnoses: respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI Bleed, DKA, hypotension, hypertension, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, overdoses

o Step downs from ICU and ER admissions

o Chronic home ventilators with static vent settings

Patient Ratios:

o RN: 1:3-4

o CNA: 1-2 per shift

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

o NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS certification required

o CCRN (critical care nursing certification) preferred but not required

o BCR (Basic Cardiac Rythm)– meaning traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of Compliance

Skills required:

o Trach chare, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, drips to titrate to HR not BP

o Monitoring and management of invasive lines i.e. arterial lines, central venous lines, pulse oximetry, intracranial pressure monitoring

o Assist/management of a variety of bedside procedures i.e. chest tube placement/management, tracheostomy, peg tube placement

Support within the Department:

o CNA? Duties? Yes - assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team); obtain blood from blood bank

o Receptionist/HUC? Unit secretary on unit 7a-11p; then house wide call secretary 11p-7a

o Charge nurse – may have patients

o Phlebotomy? Most units are lab collect phlebotomy; nurses drawn from CVLs

o IV/VAT Team? Not an IV team - do have a PICC team

o Resource Nurse? Yes, we have discharge nurses, resource team floats to all units

o RT 24/7? yes

o Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after + 12/24 or 12/25 + 12/31 or 1/1

o RTO Requests: Manager approval

o Shift times: 12-hour shifts 7A-7P or 7P-7A
