Job Title: ECMO Specialist Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ECMO Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ECMO specialist/pump management License: Valid state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: Previous charge experience Must have 2 years of specific ECMO experience Description: The ECMO Specialist is responsible for providing prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to individuals whose heart and lungs are unable to provide adequate gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life. This role involves providing ECMO support across various critical care units. Patients may require ECMO for respiratory and/or heart failure until recovery or as a bridge to lung or heart transplantation. The specialist will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and others. Daily patient census varies between 3 to 4, encompassing a diverse patient age range from neonates to adults. Experience with specific equipment such as the Spectrum system and Centrimag is beneficial. Candidates may be required to float within the facility based on patient needs. References from previous supervisors within the past two years are necessary. Candidates are expected to meet the experience and certification requirements as part of their qualifications.
