Job Title: ECMO Specialist Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ECMO Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:00) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ECMO specialist/pump management License: Valid state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: - ECMO specialist/pump management experience - Experience in providing prolonged cardiac and respiratory support Description: The ECMO Specialist is responsible for providing prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to individuals whose heart and lungs are unable to sustain adequate gas exchange or perfusion. This support is critical for maintaining life until recovery or as a bridge to lung or heart transplantation. The specialist will provide ECMO support across three critical care units. Patients may be placed on ECMO for respiratory or heart failure. The ECMO Specialist must collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Knowledge of the Spectrum system and Centrimag for some cardiac patients is essential. All candidates must have experience in specific specialty areas. The job requires the ability to float within hospital units as needed. Candidates will be subject to background checks and additional procedures on their first day.
