Job Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled, compassionate care to surgical patients throughout all perioperative phases. Guided by AORN standards and hospital policies, the RN ensures patient safety, maintains aseptic technique, and collaborates with the surgical team to deliver exceptional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical and invasive procedures.
  • Maintain accountability for patient safety and comfort during anesthesia and surgery.
  • Perform intraoperative assessments, prioritize patient needs, and implement evidence-based interventions.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring preferences and ethical standards are upheld.
  • Manage surgical counts for instruments and sharps to ensure accuracy and prevent errors.
  • Maintain sterile fields and adhere to aseptic technique at all times.
  • Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment, including monitoring devices and specialty instruments.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technicians to support efficient case flow.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; completion of a perioperative nursing course preferred.
  • Experience: One year of surgical or perioperative RN experience required; new graduates may be considered with relevant training.
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Current California RN license
    • BLS certification required
    • CNOR certification preferred
