Job Title: RN Circulator Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Perioperative Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Preferred previous RN circulator experience License: Current RN license in the state Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC required; CNOR preferred Must-Have: Ability to perform a variety of duties and maintain efficiency and composure during task changes; empathy and compassion towards patients; effective communication with diverse populations Description: The Registered Nurse specializing in perioperative nursing practice provides care during the intraoperative surgical experience. Responsible for delivering safe, effective, and quality patient and family-centered care in the operating room and other perioperative services for all patient populations. Acts as a patient advocate and supervises personnel assigned to them. On-call responsibilities for the Surgery Unit on a regularly scheduled rotation. Essential Job Functions: Accept responsibility for directing, controlling, and planning activities. Make evaluations and decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria. Work independently while implementing the plan of care. Protect patients from injury caused by external sources. Perform accounting procedures to safeguard against retained surgical items. Ensure procedures are performed on the correct site, side, and level. Manage patient specimens according to established policies. Communicate patient status to relevant parties throughout care. Administer medications safely and correctly. Maintain patient wound and tissue perfusion above baseline levels. Ensure status of genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems are stable. Implement interventions to prevent surgical site infections. Safeguard patient rights, dignity, and privacy. Provide age-specific, culturally competent, and ethical care within legal standards. Document nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly. Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as needed. Utilize problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to enhance team relationships. Maintain required competencies and pursue professional growth. Act as a patient advocate, maintaining confidentiality of health information. Support the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of the organization. Participate in required educational programs as applicable to the position. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education: Required - Associate of Science in Nursing; Preferred - Bachelor's degree in nursing. Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Required - Current RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC; Preferred - CNOR, Peri-op 101, CRASE training if assignment exceeds six months. Experience: Required - None; Preferred - Previous RN circulator experience, Peri-op 101 course, scrub experience. Other Requirements: Ability to adapt to a variety of tasks; recognize and uphold patient confidentiality; convey empathy and compassion; relate effectively to others; ensure service excellence in customer relations.
