Job Title: Operating Room RN First Assistant Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: RNFA Robotics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12.0 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Two (2) years of operating room experience preferred License: NYS License as a Registered Professional Nurse Certifications: - CNOR Certification Required - BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY) Required - ACLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY) Preferred Must-Have: - Davinci Robotics experience required (e.g., Robotic Urology, Robotic GYN, Robotic Colorectal, Robotic Surgical Oncology, Robotic Thoracic, Robotic General Surgery) Description: The RN First Assistant is a highly trained registered nurse who collaborates with the surgeon and the healthcare team to ensure safe operations with optimal patient outcomes. The RNFA practices perioperative nursing and must acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and judgment specific to this clinical practice in the operating room. This role involves performing duties of the OR staff nurse when not assigned as an RNFA. Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant course is required. Robotic surgery experience is preferred, along with proficiency in perioperative nursing practice, scrubbing, and circulating. Evening on-call responsibilities may be required, but there are no weekend or holiday shifts. A CNOR certification is mandatory. The RNFA role combines the Circ/Scrub and RNFA responsibilities.
