Job Title: Medical Surgical Oncology RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: GA or Compact license required Certifications: BLS Required OCN Required Must-Have: Experience in oncology diagnoses from diagnosis to death Experience with hematology diagnoses Knowledge of DNR/CC and oncologic emergencies Ability to manage off service patients occasionally Competence with chemotherapy precautions, morphine drips, and PCA pumps Description: The position requires a registered nurse specializing in medical surgical oncology. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time travelers are accepted. The patient population consists of adults and geriatrics. Nurses will handle oncology diagnoses from initial diagnosis to end-of-life care. Experience with hematology diagnoses is essential. Familiarity with DNR/CC protocols and managing oncologic emergencies is required. Occasional off-service assignments may be necessary. Nurses will manage chemotherapy precautions, morphine drips, dilaudid drips, cadd pumps, and PCA pumps. The staff-to-patient ratio is 1:6 in a unit with 19 beds and an average daily census of 15. Candidates must adhere to safety and handling procedures for body fluids post-chemotherapy. Nurses will perform administration of chemotherapy and blood products. Experience with accessing and managing ports is mandatory. Compliance with hospital policies and procedures is required for timely onboarding. Availability for major holidays during the assignment period is expected. Holiday requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
