Job Title: Registered Nurse - Obstetrics Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Obstetrics (Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Mother-Baby) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in obstetrics License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Experience in labor, newborn nursery, and postpartum care Must be able to titrate magnesium sulfate and Pitocin Knowledge of AWHONN staffing guidelines Description: The unit features 3 labor and delivery rooms, 1 OB-specific operating room, 4 triage beds, and 7 postpartum beds. The average number of births per year is approximately 300. Common diagnoses include preeclampsia, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, fetal growth restriction, and large for gestational age. The nursing staff includes a charge nurse and a house supervisor. New graduates temporarily serve as techs. There is no 24/7 in-house OB/neonatologist support. Registered Nurses utilize an electronic fetal monitoring system for monitoring fetal strips. Respiratory support equipment, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP, is available. The position involves working 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. A flexible schedule is required, with two weekends per month and holiday shifts expected. Travelers are not required to be on-call. There may be a need to assist other departments when required. Scrubs are provided, with a dress code of black shoes, black pants, and a purple scrub top.
