The Role

Our client is seeking a People Services Director to lead the human resources function at their healthcare facility in Kennewick, Washington. This is a senior permanent role requiring deep expertise in healthcare HR and labour relations, including direct experience with collective bargaining agreement negotiations. The Director will serve as a strategic HR partner, driving workforce excellence and compliance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full scope of HR operations including employee relations, recruitment, benefits, compensation, and HR compliance
  • Serve as the primary HR strategic partner to facility leadership and department managers
  • Manage and lead all labour relations activities including collective bargaining agreement negotiations, grievance processes, and arbitration support
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and programmes in compliance with federal, state, and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements
  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention strategies for clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Lead performance management, disciplinary processes, and workforce development initiatives
  • Partner with legal counsel on complex employee relations matters
  • Travel within the region as required (up to 20%)

Requirements

Must-Have

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare human resources
  • Experience in labour relations and collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and healthcare regulatory requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Proven track record in union contract negotiations and grievance management in a healthcare setting
  • HR certifications (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) advantageous
