Must-Have: Experience in robotics, ortho, urology, general surgery, GYN, neuro, ERCP, and vascular specialties. Description: The OR Nurse Manager works with the surgical services leadership team and nursing supervisor to coordinate departmental activities over a 24-hour period. This role reports to the Director of Surgical Services. Responsibilities include coordinating and supervising intraoperative nursing care for patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures. The position requires a working knowledge of medical/legal and accreditation aspects of nursing. Direct supervision is provided to RNs, LPNs, scrub technologists, perioperative aides, CNAs, and unit clerks. Essential functions encompass managing OR areas both operationally and fiscally. The OR Nurse Manager assists in developing the operational and capital budget. They verify that OR personnel provide safe patient care in their designated area. The manager incorporates evidence-based practices into patient care and supports OR personnel in evaluating practices. They create strategies for ongoing performance improvement. The role involves ensuring that educational resources are available for team education and holding personnel accountable for attendance and completion. The manager coordinates, facilitates, and manages changes within the OR. Effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills are essential for working with the perioperative team and stakeholders. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing data related to performance improvement projects applicable to the managed area. The OR Nurse Manager utilizes effective conflict resolution techniques. They facilitate or participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to plan OR patient care. Evaluation of OR personnel performance and involvement in the interview process for personnel selection is required. The manager ensures the availability of necessary OR personnel, equipment, and supplies. They verify compliance with organizational policies and regulatory and accreditation standards. Providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to the surgical team is vital. Professional, interpersonal, and communication skills are expected. Effective project management principles are utilized in day-to-day operations. The OR Nurse Manager pursues professional growth and participates in a professional organization. Acting as a patient advocate while maintaining privacy and confidentiality is crucial. They are responsible for maintaining nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures. Ensuring proper operation of medical and administrative equipment is a key responsibility.
