Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Description: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices. Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Applies the nursing process effectively during patient care. Evaluates patient outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care. Performs comprehensive head-to-toe assessments on all patients according to policy. Provides individualized, age-specific care that supports homeostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiological functioning. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families, functioning as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan, providing age-appropriate care to patients served. Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of an individualized and mutually agreed upon plan of care. Reviews, revises, updates, and resolves the plan of care daily. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning, including family in the teaching process as appropriate. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care, allocating and monitoring their work. Assists physicians with procedures in the department as needed. Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes, processes, and the work environment. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Engages in professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, staff meetings, and workshops. Maintains operation of patient care equipment, ensuring an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment. Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment. Demonstrates flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to function under stressful situations. Meets all departmental specific competencies. Performs housekeeping duties when needed. Assists with the transportation of patients as required. Adheres to dress code and departmental policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
