Key Responsibilities of a MedSurg/ED Float Nurse
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in both MedSurg and Emergency Department settings
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, treatments, and progress
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per provider orders and protocols
- Respond quickly to changes in patient conditions, including emergencies
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and ongoing care
- Maintain accurate medical records while following hospital policies and safety standards
- Float between MedSurg and ED units based on staffing needs
Requirements
- Active Colorado or Compact RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications (TNCC preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years' recent experience in a MedSurg/Emergency Department setting
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
