Description: The role involves working as a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse with a focus on Urology and Nephrology. The position requires the nurse to work night shifts, specifically three 12-hour shifts each week. The average daily census on the unit is 23 patients. This is a 25-bed unit with a diverse patient population, managing various diagnoses related to urology and nephrology. Nurses may need to float to other medical-surgical units as required. Charge nurse responsibilities may be needed as part of this assignment. It is crucial for the nurse to have experience in telemetry, emergency response, pre/post hemodialysis management, and care for renal failure patients. Skills in starting IVs, managing central lines, and administering blood products are essential. The nurse will also manage respiratory equipment, including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula. Wound care and the ability to implement isolation precautions are necessary components of the role. The unit frequently discharges and readmits patients, creating a fast-paced environment.
