Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Acute Care (Medical Surgical) Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS (AHA) NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years of experience in medical surgical specialty - BLS and NIHSS certifications Description: This position involves providing care for patients in a medical surgical unit. The unit comprises 44 beds and has approximately 40 staff members. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5, possibly 1:6 for both day and night shifts. Experience with electronic medical records systems is preferred but not required. There are nurse aides available on the unit. Nursing assistants are typically assigned 1:8, generally 1:10. Shifts generally run from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM and are 12 hours long. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Holiday work is needed as scheduled. The typical scrub color for this position is Caribbean Blue. Patients requiring telemetry monitoring are cared for in a different unit. Nurses may be required to float to all acute care and cardiology units. General orientation will consist of one week, including training on the electronic medical records system. Floor-specific orientation will take an additional two days. This job is based in a medium-sized city with a population of approximately 80,000. The area is within driving distance to larger cities and nearby recreational areas. Housing options are available in gated, safe, and clean environments.
