Job Title: RN Medical/Surgical Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:30 PM - 07:00 AM Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN License required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: NIH Stroke Scale certification required Description: Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Within the scope of this job, requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Ability to work with minimal supervision is necessary. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Travelers are required to work up to 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period. Holiday shift requirements will be based on departmental needs. This department serves adult patients with neuro and stroke conditions and has telemetry capability. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6. The unit is supported by patient care technicians and a healthcare unit coordinator. Utilization of virtual sitter monitoring and monitor technicians is available for those on telemetry.
