Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Recent Epic experience (within the last 6 months) - Experience in medical surgical, orthopedic, and neuro patient populations - Willingness to float to units of equal or lesser acuity Description: This position is for a nurse in a Med/Surg unit focusing on orthopedic and neurology patients. The nurse will be responsible for managing a patient load with a typical ratio of 1:6. Telemetry is monitored in a centralized unit. Patient care technicians and transporters are available to assist on the unit. There will be a floating charge nurse available for support. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics with a daily census of around 30. Special procedures relevant to this unit may include post-operative care and management of orthopedic conditions. Interdisciplinary support will be available from physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services among others. Nurses are expected to provide care for a wide range of conditions including traumatic brain injury, total joint replacement, and CVAs. The facility has a house discharge nurse who can float across departments to assist. Various resources will be available to the nursing staff, including discounted meals.
