Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg/Tele Duration: 8 weeks (may vary) Shift: 6:45 pm to 7:15 am Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years Med Surg/Tele RN experience License: Licensed RN able to practice in the State of MS Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale, Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Experience in patient care nursing process, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation Description: The Registered Nurse performs duties under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator. The Registered Nurse is delegated an assignment by the Patient Care Coordinator to achieve quality patient care. The Nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, will be implemented in an organized manner. Collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator, Physicians, and ancillary staff is essential. Documentation in Patient Care Records and observations by Nurse Manager are required to demonstrate performance. The Registered Nurse is accountable to the Nurse Manager for patient care. Additional duties may be assigned by the Patient Care Coordinator and/or Patient Care Manager. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. Assesses and intervenes appropriately when a patient's condition worsens and requires immediate attention. Knowledge of growth and development principles is necessary to assess data reflective of patient status. Ability to perform all technical skills required for the unit's population. Rendering professional nursing care includes administering medications, maintaining intravenous lines, and performing treatments as ordered. Demonstrates technical aptitude for working and troubleshooting various medical equipment. Effectively communicates pertinent patient information to all healthcare team members. Maintains clinical skills and stays current with competencies and equipment required in the nursing area. Practices a philosophy of care in all interactions with patients, visitors, and coworkers. Implements a systematic and comprehensive plan of care for patients needing cardiac monitoring, stroke care, and medical-surgical care. Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, including customer service and compliance standards. Demonstrates financial responsibility by using supplies efficiently and minimizing overtime. Every other weekend availability is required. Short-term assignments are needed as soon as possible. Candidates will not be assigned ER patients. Nurses may be floated to any Med Surg/Tele unit as needed. Having experience with electronic medical records, specifically Epic, is required.
