Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 6:45 am to 7:15 pm Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of two years in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing License: Licensed RN able to practice in the state Certifications: - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - NIH Stroke Scale - Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Epic experience required; timekeeping experience with Kronos Description: The Registered Nurse performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator and is delegated an assignment by the Patient Care Coordinator to achieve quality patient care. The Registered Nurse shall implement the nursing process in an organized and systematic manner that includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator, Physicians, and ancillary staff. This is evidenced by documentation in the Patient Care Record, direct observation by the Nurse Manager, and patient evaluations of care. The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Patient Care Coordinator for patient care and ultimately accountable to the Nurse Manager. Other duties may be assigned to the Registered Nurse by the Patient Care Coordinator and/or Patient Care Manager. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Assesses and intervenes appropriately when a patient’s condition worsens and requires immediate attention. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development. Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs. Provides the necessary care based on these assessments. Demonstrates the ability to perform all technical skills required for the unit's population. Renders professional nursing care including administering medications, starting intravenous access, and maintaining intravenous lines and Foley catheters. Performs venipuncture, administration of blood products, and restraint application and monitoring. Carries out sterile dressing changes and performs both complex and routine treatments as ordered by the physician. Demonstrates technical aptitude for working and troubleshooting equipment used in the clinical setting. Safely positions and assists patients using various devices. Demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation, bedside shift reports, and verbal communication. Communicates pertinent patient information to all healthcare team members. Maintains clinical skills by staying current in ongoing competencies, equipment, and certifications required in specific nursing areas. Embraces and practices a philosophy of compassionate patient care in all interactions with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other stakeholders. Implements a systematic and comprehensive plan of care to provide individualized care, prompt intervention when clinical changes occur, and prevention of complications in patients. Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes established values of the organization, such as customer service, safety, and compliance standards. Demonstrates the ability to promote a culture of caring through teamwork and courtesy in interactions with all customers. Demonstrates financial responsibility by using supplies efficiently. Ensures patients are discharged in a timely manner while minimizing incremental overtime.
