Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Registered Nurse License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Required Must-Have: - RN must be able to titrate drips. - Experience with cardiac patients, post-operative care, and respiratory management is preferred. Description: Unit is a 29-bed telemetry unit specializing in cardiac and general medical patients. Nurse to patient ratios are approximately 1:5-6. Common patient diagnoses include: - Cardiac patients - Post-cardiac catheterization - Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) - Post-operative lung surgeries - Respiratory failure - Patients with chest tubes and pacemakers Registered Nurses are expected to titrate various infusions, including: - Cardizem - Amiodarone - Dobutamine - Dopamine - Heparin - Nitro up to 50 mcg A charge nurse is available on every shift, and while the day charge nurse does not take patients, the night charge nurse handles patient assignments. Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are available with a typical ratio of 1 CNA for every 12 patients. Respiratory equipment available includes CPAP and BiPAP, managed by respiratory therapists. Telemetry monitoring is conducted using Philips monitors, with nurses required to read and interpret telemetry strips. The unit operates 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. Staff is expected to work every other weekend and participate in holiday rotations. The dress code requires royal blue scrubs for nursing staff. The unit values teamwork and provides a supportive environment for both permanent and traveling staff.
